2012 Rondeau Bay Sundown Showdown

Date: Saturday June 30th

Morning Registration: 9:30 AM - 10:50 AM
Blast Off: 11:00 AM
Weigh-In: 8:30 PM

Registration & Weigh-In: Southside Landing Erieau *NEW LOCATION*
Blast-Off Site: Erieau Channel

Entry - $120 / Team ($100 Entry + $20 Big Fish Pot)
(Optional) Mega Bucks Side Pot - $80

100% Payback of all Entries collected as well as Trophies (for Big Fish Awared & Top 3 finishers) & Sponsored Prize Packs available to be won!

Our tournament is a non profit, fun event and we encourage anyone with a boat that likes to Bass Fish to come out and have some fun!

2012 will be our 3rd consecutive year running (of 5 years total), and we've had steady growth in numbers the past two seasons. So we would like to continue that trend and see the field increase again this year. Hope to see you there!

RONDEAU BAY SUNDOWN SHOWDOWN RULES & PROCEDURES

RULES

ELIGIBILE FISH

- 5 Bass Limit: Up to 5 Bass may be kept for Weigh-In or be in contained within your live well at any time while engine is running.
- Species: Only Largemouth or Smallmouth Bass may be kept to Weigh-In.
- Length Restrictions: All Bass must measure not less than 12” in length tip to tip.
- Live Release: All Bass must be weighed in alive and in a condition that they are likely to survive after release.

BOATS & EQUIPMENT

- Boat Size Restrictions: Minimum 12’ long and powered with a 9.9 HP + outboard.
- Non-Permissible Water Craft: Kayaks, Canoes, or similar PWC are NOT permitted.
- Live-well: Boats must have a running live-well. Portable units may require approval.
- Life Jackets: All competitors must be wearing their life jacket while engine is running.

BOUNDARIES & RESTRICTIONS

- Distance Between Boats: Teams may not approach any other Boat that less than 50’ away whether fishing or to purposely muck at area running past them.
- Acceptable Fishing Waters: Teams may fish any waters legally navigable by boat in Rondeau Bay, the Erieau Channel, Lake Erie or any adjoining tributaries.
- Marinas Off Limits: Teams are not permitted to Fish within any Marina.
- Slow Zones: Marinas & the Erieau Channel will be treated as Max 10 km/h or No Wake Zones whether or not it is posted.

FISHING

- Trolling: Trolling is not permitted with the use of an outboard engine.
- Rod Length: Rods must not exceed 8’ in Length.
- 1 Line Per Person: One line per person may be in use at any time.
- Artificial Lures Only: Live, Dead or Prepared Bait NOT permitted (except Pork Rind).
- Pre-Fishing: All Pre Tournament Scouting or Fishing must be completed by 10 PM the night before the tournament. Fishing or Scouting the morning of the Tournament is not permitted.

PROCEDURES

MORNING BOAT INSPECTION

- Livewell Inspection: All Teams must have their Live-well checked prior to Blast-Off.

BLAST-OFF

- Trickle Start: Teams must wait for their number to be called before Blasting Off. Please remember that you must Idle while in the Channel at ALL times.

CHECK-IN

Check-In Time & Location: All Teams must be within the Erieau Channel or Marina by 8:30 PM during which all fishing must be completed by that time.

WEIGH-IN & LIVE RELEASE

- Obtain Weigh Tag: Teams must wait in line to receive a tag before bringing their fish up for Weigh-In. There will be a separate line at the tanks for Team’s already with a tag to weigh their fish.
- Live Release Only: All fish must be released alive by the team that catches them. Fish that have been ruled Dead or Dying must be kept or turned over to tournament officials.

PENALTIES

- Lateness: For every 1 minute late there will a 1LB penalty applied. After 10 minutes your catch will be disqualified.
- Dead Fish: Dead Fish will receive a 1 LB penalty and is not eligible for Big Fish Award.
- Dead Fish Must Be Kept: Anyone caught releasing a ruled Dead or Dying fish that was weighed in will be disqualified.
- Short Fish: Any fish that is less than 12” in length will not be eligible for Weigh-In and an additional 1LB penalty will be applied to your total weight.
- Idle In Channel & Marina: Any team found running on plane within the Channel or Marina will be disqualified.
- Early Weigh-In: Teams that attempt to Weigh-In their catch before receiving a Tag will be disqualified.
- General Rule Infractions: Any proven violation to any other rule or procedure will result in disqualification from competition with no refund of entry to the offending team.

CHANGES & UPDATES to RULES & DETAILS for this Years Event:

We had some inquiries about opening up the event to the lake again. So we made that change back to the way it always has been. And with the new launch site we fealt it appropriate to have some rules in place for the Channel and Marinas also. And lastly we allowed anglers to Pre-Fish the morning of the Tournament in the past, this year as you will read All Pre-Fishing must be completed no later than the night before the event.

NEW LOCATION

This year the event will NOT be run from the Brock St Dock in Shrewsbury. Registration and Weigh-In will be operated from the Southside Landing in Erieau. Blast off will be in the Erieau Channel.

BOUNDARIES & RESTRICTIONS

No Boundaries: Teams may fish any waters legally navigable by boat in Rondeau Bay, the Erieau Channel and Lake Erie.
Marinas Off Limits: Teams are not permitted to Fish within any Marina.
Idle while in Marina & Channel: Teams must Idle at all times while navigating within the Marina or Channel.

PRE-FISHING OFF LIMITS PERIOD

Pre-Fishing: All Pre-Tournament Scouting and Fishing must be completed no later than 10 PM the night before the tournament. No Fishing or Scouting will be allowed the morning of the Tournament before Blast-off.
